Now we know you don't usually think about Pumpkins until the fall but these early-summer growers are a unique and fun addition to any garden, blooming big beautiful orange flowers all summer long. Pumpkins need lots of space so plant them in their own garden bed if possible. Choose between our ornamental variety for fall decoration, or our edible variety to help you make that perfect pumpkin pie come Thanksgiving.
Planting and Care Instructions
Give pumpkin plenty of space to grow at least 2 feet all around and expose to partial to full sun. Plant slightly below grade to encourage water flow to the plant. Leaves can become droopy when exposed to too much sun and heat but quickly recover at dusk. Water 2 to 3 times per week depending on temperature. Harvest when pumpkin is fully orange and stem is weak. It should break off from the plant easily when harvesting.
